Wedding Photographer in Asheville, N.C. | Yestereday Spaces

Lauren and Josh’s wedding was one of the most beautiful and relaxed weddings I have ever been to. Their wedding was at the beautiful venue, Yesterday Spaces, out in Leicester, NC. Everything about this location was just breathtaking. The old farmhouse the girls got ready in, the long and tree lined aisle Laurens dad walked her down, the perfectly sunny day and the beautifully decorated barn the reception was held in made this day so magical. One of my favorite moments of the day to witness was the first time Lauren’s dad saw her in her wedding dress. It was a tender and emotional moment and I loved being able to capture it.

After the ceremony, I took Josh and Lauren aside and we did some bride and groom photos. The word that keeps coming to mind when I think about them is sweet. They are such sweet people and they are such a sweet couple together. It was so obvious that the most important thing on the day of their wedding wasn’t the dress, the decorations or the party … it was that they were marrying each other:)

The reception was so much fun! Josh and Lauren played a shoe game that I have never heard of before their wedding. They take off their shoes and they each hold one of their own shoes and one of the other persons shoes in each hand. They sit in chairs back to back and someone asks them questions such as “who is the most stubborn?”. They then hold up the shoes of the person they think is most stubborn in the relationship. It was so funny to see them answer!

It was such an honor to get to photograph your wedding day, Josh and Lauren! You are a beautiful couple. Here’s to many, many years spent together!:)

Asheville Family Photographer | Craggy Mountain Line Railroad

What’s a better place to have your five year old birthday pictures taken for a train loving little boy than Craggy Mountain Railroad? Craggy Mountain is an awesome place just outside of Asheville, in Woodfin. It is run by volunteers who restore old trains and offer train rides to the park every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month through the summer. We took our boys a couple of weeks ago and they had a blast! I had such a great time photographing these two boys. This is my third time photographing this family and every time I am reminded about how much they make me think of my own boys! It was such a great afternoon playing on trains with these two:)

Engagement Photography in Asheville, N.C. | Cataloochee Valley

Molly and Trenton’s engagement session was the very first time I had ever been to Cataloochee Valley. The road getting there is long and questionable at times, but boy was it worth it once we arrived. The land out there is just gorgeous, there are elk roaming everywhere and there are mountains that surround you. They have an old chapel, schoolhouse, barn and an old house that is open for the public to tour. It’s amazing how great of shape all of it is in. It is almost like you can imagine yourself living there long ago.

We met on a dreary and somewhat rainy afternoon. It gave such a moody feeling to their session and was actually a perfect feel for the mossy forests that surrounded us! Molly and Trenton are both laid back, lovers of their dog, coffee and beer. It was great to get to spend some time getting to know them before their wedding in September!:)

Family Photography in Asheville N.C. | The Poss Family

I have known Kelly for a long time. Even before I knew her, I knew of her and looked up to her. She was a couple of years older than me and was on the cheerleading team. It wasn’t until high school when we were on the same cheerleading team that I got to know her a little bit better. Her dad was the coach of the varsity football team at the time and he hosted the Fellowship of Christian Athletes group at their house often, so I was around them a lot. The whole family has always been so kind. This past winter I was so excited when I saw her name in my email inbox! Her brother and his wife were going to be in town from Texas for Christmas and they wanted family photos of everyone taken together.

Kelly and her husband, Rob, have two adorable little boys who are similar in age to my own. I am a little biased, but I think being the mom of boys is the best thing ever:) Luke, the older brother, was so sweet to his younger brother Hudson. He put up no fuss at all about sitting close to and giving hugs to Hudson (this is something my two aren’t always good at). One of my very favorite sequence of images I’ve ever taken is of Luke doing his ninja (I think?) moves. You can find it halfway down:)

Thank you to the Poss and Sides family for allowing me to photograph you. It was so good to see all of you again!

Asheville, N.C. Lifestyle Photographer | Ainsley

I absolutely loved going to this family’s home to photograph their new little addition, Ainsley. Every now and then you come across people who you immediately know are “good” people. This is one of those families. I was welcomed into their home and they totally gave me the freedom to do, move or try anything I wanted. Despite having a three year old and a brand new baby, they were so laid back and happy. Seriously, smiles the whole time:) Even the big brother was happy and well behaved!

I shot this session right after Christmas so they Christmas tree was still up. I grabbed a wooden bowl and a beautiful red blanket the family had laying around their house and it made for perfect festive images. Ainsley was the perfect Christmas present! While Summer fed Ainsley in the middle of the session, I stepped outside to photograph Jason and their three year old son Cato. They received matching capes for Christmas and they were running around the yard together. The masks definitely make the costume complete:)

Once back inside, we headed upstairs to the nursery. I love crocheted blankets, especially if they are handmade by a family member. We were able to snap a few photos of Ainsley on the blanket her grandmother had crocheted. It matched perfectly to her sweet pink dress! We snapped some mother/daughter and father/daughter images before heading to the bedroom to get some family photos on the bed. The last two black and white images are some of my favorites. It really shows how sweet the family is. Especially big brother, Cato:)

Congratulations to Summer, Jason and Cato on the beautiful new addition to your family! I loved spending time photographing your family and getting to know you!
